Jewelry Shape Templates by Cool Tools can be used to create fabulous shapes in silver, copper, bronze, polymer and ceramic clays or sheet metal. This great tool can be used for any craft project. To use with clay, rather than cutting out a complicated pattern, press the template into the clay slab and cut around the impression. To create the impression on clay, start with a plain or textured slab placed on a Cool Tools Tuff Card or other work surface. Position the template over the slab. Press the template, which has been misted with Cool Slip, into the clay. You can use your fingers to press around the design using firm pressure, or place an acrylic disc or work surface over the template shape and press firmly. Remove the template and cut away the excess clay with a needle tool. A needle tool can also be used to cut the shape directly, using the template edges as a guide. Use a very fine needle tool. HOW TO STENCIL...
Virtually any paint can be used to stencil with but the two most popular types are Acrylic and Dry-brush Oil.
Preparation
Always make sure that the surface to be stenciled is clean and properly prepared with no flaking paint.
Instructions
Spray the back of the stencil lightly with spray glue and position the stencil on the chalk line or registration mark.
Paint: Dip your brush or sponge into the paint then, wipe off most of it on a piece of kitchen paper. If you use too much paint you will find that it bleeds behind the stencil, giving the pattern very ragged edges.
Apply the paint using an up and down stippling motion, start on the outside of each of the stencils cut outs and work your way in towards the middle.
Clean-up: Wash your stencil frequently in hot soapy water, especially when changing color. Don't forget to check for paint on the back of the stencil. To remove oil paint and glue from your stencils and brushes soak them in turpentine for a few minutes.

This material is reusable, safe, non-toxic, and recyclable. It resists inks, paints, and stains, and can withstand up to 180-degrees Fahrenheit application temperature. The coating on SSB material also protects against runs and smears that are common with plastic stencils.
